Rick Enriquez offers something that’s difficult to get. He offers accessible pieces with all of the hallmarks of his more artisanal pieces. Why is this important? Because everyone deserves a chance to look beautiful.
Now, mind you, you probably already look beautiful. But since the dawn of human history, we’ve adorned ourselves with stones, leaves, paint, metals, and other embellishments to accentuate our own naturally beautiful human form. We have all of these appendages and this is just an opportunity for us to add items that highlight how good we already look.
This is the domain of aesthetics. A branch of philosophy that concerns itself with art and the appreciation of beauty. Though we may never agree on the content, the context remains the same: Adding particular items to our person is a way of adding to our own beauty. So now you know what a bracelet is for. But what about this need for accessibility? Well, ultimately, artists who sell their work want to make sure there are consumers who can purchase them. At once, they want to express their ultimate artistic vision and eat delicious meals at the same time. Straddling that fine line can be difficult. Even car manufacturers do it.
You have a piece of turquoise that you usually find in more ostentatious pieces: Golden Hills. Then you have really good stampwork you’ll find in heavier pieces. But the piece is made to be unobtrusive. Because of this, you can wear it daily and it won’t feel like there’s something heavy on your wrist. But it’s heavy enough to feel substantial. It’s not just a piece of sheet silver with stamping, it’s a lot of work and he prices them at low-mid range prices so that most people can get a stunning piece. Think of it as a Tesla Model 3 to the Tesla Model D. The Model D is a flagship vehicle and the Model 3 has many of the features of the D but at a more accessible price. Both are Teslas, so you get the great value and performance of both, but one is something many can enjoy.
And I’m thankful for this. It’s A LOT of beauty and it’s accessible. That’s difficult to do, and Rick is a master at it.
