This piece is 28 grams of sterling silver and a teardrop labradorite formed into a Nepalese saddle ring. This style of ring is made primarily in Nepal, Tibet, and at times even Bali. The filigree work in the ring is classic Nepalese filigree work, with smaller ornate scrolls versus the Tibet style that has more beadwork and repousse -- though both do similar styles.

Labradorite is a very special stone in the feldspar family that has “play” in light. Depending on the direction of light and the viewer, this stone displays flashes of color called labradorescence. It’s a shimmer that changes, in the case of this stone, from gold to green with touches of blue. It’s truly amazing. In fact, the Inuit peoples say that labradorite held the aurora borealis until one day a person broke the stone and set it free. The stone is that beautiful.
