Lapis Lazuli (lapis) is my second favorite stone. Luckily, silversmiths the world over love it, too. The Navajo, with their outstanding silverwork are no exception. This 25 gram statement ring is beautiful Navajo stampwork surrounding a piece of lapis that makes me want to buy it for myself. I don’t own one like this, but I want it badly -- discipline is a must in this business. Anyway, you can have it with it’s beautiful pyrite inclusions and it’s subtle calcite spots. To think that nature made this stone over millions of years, and an artist’s eye brought it to life, gives me joy. It’s sense of joy brought on by admiring the art and thinking about how awesome human beings can be. “Someone did this. One of us, a human, did this”, I say to myself. It’s beautiful.
