Eddie Secatero's pieces are known for axial symmetry. This means if you fold it in half vertically or horizontally each side will be the same. This axial symmetry ends when it comes to the stones, though. In truth, he could put a solid-colored piece of turquoise in the center. This would be interesting in its own right as solid color pieces can be mesmerizing. However, the asymmetry of color in the stones is what makes Eddie’s pieces compositionally interesting.

And that’s it, isn’t it? You’re attracted to the piece because of its symmetry. But the part that keeps you looking is its lack of symmetry in the center stone. Tada!

Either way, this piece is made with a large piece of Kingman turquoise. The turquoise here has some host rock in order to keep our interest in the piece. The stone is seated high in the bezel, which makes for a more substantial piece. This effect ensures that the ring is seen from multiple profiles. Why is this important? Well you didn’t exactly get this ring to hide, did you? You wouldn’t wear this ring to pull off a movie-style bank heist, for example. This ring is what all long rings are meant for: to stand out and make a statement. Mission accomplished, I’d say.
